Incense
ALL ABOUT INCENSE
To relax or to make your home a real cocoon, you will certainly take care of the decoration of the house. But don't ignore the power of smell! Incense is synonymous with escape and can create a peaceful atmosphere. But how do you choose and use it?
WHAT IS THE ORIGIN OF INCENSE?
The history of incense goes back over a thousand years. Extracted from the incense tree, an essence found in Ethiopia, Somalia, Oman and Yemen. Incense was used as a sacred method of curing illness. It may be inhaled to reduce discomfort and has anti-inflammatory qualities.
It is closely tied to a variety of spiritual ideas and is still present in some places for prayer or meditation. Today, the term incense refers to many combinations of slow-burning plants, essential oils, fragrances and bonded resins. Burning releases the sweetness of the aroma, and spreads that aroma and various virtues of its own in the room.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF INCENSE?
Incense has been used in many places of worship since the dawn of time to promote meditation and concentration. Incense is known to ease tensions, calm the mind and bring inner peace. If a few burned sticks can be used as anxiolytic without side effects, why deprive yourself?
WHICH INCENSE TO CHOOSE?
There are a variety of incenses, with different shapes, fragrances and multiple characteristics. The most common are cones and incense sticks, but you can also find resin beads with a very pure composition and a strong aroma. To fully enjoy the incense, choose the appropriate holder:
Cup, wooden incense holder or metal or fancy incense burner, there is bound to be a model suitable for your interior decoration.
For the scent of the incense, simply let yourself be guided by your desires! The ingredients imagined by the perfumer can take you on a journey to your childhood, travel the world with a spicy scent, or bathe you in relaxing bubbles of essential oils. If incense isn't your thing, you could alternatively use a diffuser or a candle to set the mood in the space.
WHAT PRECAUTIONS SHOULD I TAKE WITH INCENSE?
To really enjoy the benefits of incense and all its aromas, there are still some rules to follow. It is common sense, but from the moment you light the incense - this is also valid for candles - do not leave it unattended: who says combustion says risk.
The combustion also affects the air in the room. To prevent particles from stagnating or the faint smoke from the aroma from turning into unpleasant fumigation, please always air the room when burning the incense stick or cone. To do this, open a window, then open the door of the room where the incense is opened.
If you think the incense might bother you, choose Japanese incense which is less powerful than Indian incense in terms of scent.
Whether you want to decorate your home with a unique fragrance, or give yourself soothing or invigorating hugs, you won't find a better ally than incense!
